Common Cheque Writing Mistakes to Avoid (Pakistan)
Common Cheque Writing Mistakes to Avoid (Pakistan)
Small errors can cause big delays. Here are the cheque mistakes we see most often—and how to prevent them.
1) Amount mismatch
The numeric amount and words must match exactly. If they don’t, banks usually reject the cheque.
2) Overwriting without signature
If you correct something, strike a neat line through the error and countersign near the correction. Some banks may still require a fresh cheque.
3) Ambiguous dates
Use a clear format (e.g., DD-MM-YYYY) and avoid mixed numerals that can be read incorrectly.
4) Blank spaces
Don’t leave large empty areas on the words line. Fill to the end with “only” to reduce tampering risk.
